Chocolate Babka

Chocolate Babka Recipe:

Dough:
In a mixer (or by hand) mix in the following ingredients in order:
❤️ 3 + 1/2 cups all purpose flour
❤️ 1/4 cup sugar
❤️ 1 Tbsp. dry yeast
❤️ 1 cup warm water (May need a few tbsp more if dry)
❤️ 1/4 cup oil
❤️ 1/4 tsp salt
❤️ 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Filling:
Chocolate spread
Almonds/walnuts optional
Syrup:
Bring to a boil:
(cook until thickened a bit)
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of water
1 tsp of lemon juice
-When syrup thickens remove to cool a bit.
Directions:
kneed all dough ingredients for 7-10 minutes.
Place dough inside a large bowl, oil spray & cover the dough with a plastic wrap, a bag or a towel, let rise 20 minutes.
Punch in dough, kneed for 1 minute and let rise covered , 1 hour, (oil spray on top of dough to avoid drying).
After dough has about doubled, knead about 2-5 minutes and start flattening the dough with a rolling pin sprinkling some flour to avoid dough sticking to the surface. Flatten to a thin square layer.
Spread chocolate spread on top of the flat dough sheet then roll completely, cut to equal slices or leave as a large roll (see video) and place in an oiled pan.
Let rise covered another 25 minutes.
bake at 365 degrees F for 20-30 minutes. Ready when golden brown.
Drizzle syrup when hot out of the oven ❤️
